Attorney and developer Carl Paladino ran as a Republican in the New York State Gubernatorial race in 2010. While losing to Democrat Andrew Cuomo, Mr. Paladino swept Western New York including Niagara County where he attracted 66.46% of all voters. Mr. Paladino earlier defeated Rick Lazio in the Republican primary. Mr. Paladino attracted 93.24% of Republican voters in Niagara County in the primary. In an interview with the Niagara Falls Reporter, Mr. Paladino, who is supporting Johnny Destino in his primary race against State Senator George Maziarz, gave his views on both candidates.

CARL PALADINO: George Maziarz is a ‘poster child’ for term limits. He has been around for a long time and his only accomplishments have been in serving special interests that in turn support his friends and family club.
King George, like his namesake, is more about power brokering than dealing with issues vital to his constituents and Western New York.

George was a quiet observer and in fact voted, without objection, for the budget bill that swept $500 million dollars of NYPA (Power Authority) monies into the State’s General Fund. Those funds should have been designated to Western New York job development and job retention.

He joined with the Senate Republican Caucus last year in selling out to Cuomo by voting for Cuomo’s “Tax Reform” Bill that was in fact a “Tax Increase” bill that imposed the burdens of the corrupt downstate Metropolitan Transit Authority onto the backs of Western New York taxpayers. Niagara County Conservative Party Chairman Dan Weiss Believes His Party Supports Gay Marriage

 Why does Mark Grisanti  have the full support of the Niagara County Conservative Party when he changed his tune on supporting gay marriage? Does this mean Niagara county conservatives support gay marriage?

We would like to say we are shocked and dismayed that Niagara county chairman Dan Weiss, playing party politics so Grisanti can get the Conservative line. The sad fact is the Conservative principles long ago in exchange for patronage jobs and favors really don't represent the conservatives, Weiss is an embarrassment to the party.

We can understand most all Conservatives are upset about Mark Grisanti’s vote for gay marriage, but we need to look at the totality of his record of deception. Dan Weiss is a political puppet and hack that lacks any true conservative principles.You must ask yourself how did Dan Weiss become the chairman of the conservative party? Because his mom Patty Weiss is a Republican Chair? Why do most conservative leaders have connections to Republican family members?

I’m also appalled at the lack of understanding of political ramifications statewide for this move that could see a return to downstate liberal control of the Senate. This again proves Weiss stands for nothing but his own personal gain and his moms in the Republican party.

Residents like the idea of recording meetings

 We occasionally see things politicians do that make us want to support them. One of those instances has arisen in the past week, during which time multiple sources familiar with the situation told us that City of Lockport Alderman Jack Smith revealed to the council that he has been secretly recording executive session meetings of the city council. Smith, who is abandoning his council seat in a run for mayor of the city, has been secretly recording the council's executive sessions for the past year.

Frankly, Smith's approach to governing is very gratifying. We feel the closed door executive sessions are being abused by politicians to keep issues from residents. While we're not going to speculate on Smith's motives or intentions, the fact that he is willing to step up to the plate and go against the status Que. To such levels for what appears to be to help inform residents and protect himself on what is going on behind closed doors. Look what goes on in the county legislator meetings, secret meetings behind closed doors isn't this a free country?

Dose Jack need to explain to the voters why he's done what he's done? No I am sure the voters understand. 

Are there serious concerns about the legality of Smith's actions? No there is not, it was totally legal. We strongly encourage residents to support recordings of all meetings. We give  Smith a A+, keep it up Jack your doing a great job. Sorry Tucker regime no laws have been violated and the public's trust in Jack has been growing.
